"Ya know, honey, beauty is only skin deep."
she said as she piled her stuff in a big heap
Lets see, there was a wig and eyelashes
Hearing aid, falsies and stylish eyeglasses
When her dentures hit the floor
I asked, "Is there anything more?"
She said "What ya see is what ya get"
I said "After all these years, I love ya yet!"

I think I follow your drift

CAMPAIGN FOR SURREAL BEAUTY
Whoever said that beauty is skin deep
must have caught a glimpse
of Farhana in her heyday, emerging
from a corporate-raiding session
bug-eyed, drenched in sweat, blood
drained from her face, fearsomely
stripped of her external charms,
resembling nothing so much as the
kind of parboiled human gargoyle
which even the hypocritical merchants
of the lovey-dovey soap company
would have had problems dealing with
If you’ll pardon the pun, underneath
it all you’d say she was quite a nice gal,
if by that you mean her only saving grace
was having muy muy dinero
which she never tired of flaunting
in the faces of fawning sycophants
and like-minded Herrenvolk
At the time, though, those of us brought up
on a steady diet of Baywatch and Miami Vice
used to dream wet dreams of her in
the plastic-fantastic guise of Shakira
and Posh Spice and Ash Rai rolled into one
Don’t get me wrong – I am grateful to her, cos
those oneiromantic encounters have helped me
get it on so much better with
the dreamy, life-size, lifelike barbie doll
whose ring I so happily wear
(minos – not too long ago)
I like your minimalist approach to wordsmithing.
"Abbreviated comments"? Well if you say so. btw, you have the dubious honour of being the first person ever in history to post a comment on my site.
: )
Remember that in days to come (if you live that long - if anyone lives that long - this godforsaken century has only just begun)
