Calvin and Hobbes

Calvin and Hobbes
Had the best jobs

Calvin’s was to experience childhood
Hobbes’ to make sure it was really good

Calvin was ever so wild and unkempt
He took Hobbes wherever he went

Calvin was so irrepressibly inventive
And Hobbes was equally expressive

Though they were quite extreme
They were the best kind of team

Keeping their imaginations tightly in place
They’d challenge Physics Time and Space

Till at the end of each adventurous day
Reluctantly exhausted, they’d hit the hay

Was your childhood this much fun?

A Thought For Your Day

Better think things through
Before you do what you do!

Questions for Your Inner You

Are you really at peace
In this body you lease?

Does your face
Reflect
Your inner space?

Do you stop playing hero or clown
And take the time to center down?

Do you spend your time wisely then
To hear the still small voice within?

When you've thought this thought
Then do you do what you ought?

Do you let your conscience be the goad
For when the rubber hits the road?

If you’ll do
This for you

You will find
Peace of mind

A Mime Next Door

Once upon a time
There was a Mime

Who I found would be
A good neighbor to me

He had nothing to say
On each and every day

I’d think “Good morning Mime”
He'd reply in kind each time

Stampede!

Centipede

Stampede

Would

Leave

You

Lightly

Trampled

But

Not

Quite

Crumpled;

You

Might

Say

Shaken

But

Not

Stirred!

Black Cat

How can you tell
When a black cat
Crosses your path
In the middle of
Of a dark foggy night?

Keep it turned on and
Have fresh batteries
In your flashlight!

Grandkids

Visiting the grandkids never gets old
Even when they leave you with a cold!

A Tribute to Edgar Alan Poe

It was a dark and foggy night

Complete with surreal light

Slinky shapes were oozing around

Hovering closely above the ground

Approaching sounds whispered eerily

As I hurried through the night stealthily

Turning the next corner, I came face to face

With a familiar door and quickly entered my place

I was finally away from the dark foggy night

Where I'd just about died from the fright!

The Shadow We Cast

The Shadow we cast

May be taller than we know

So be careful the example you set

Is the one you really want them to get!
